Wagering Basics

What is a Bet or Wager?

A bet or wager is the action of placing funds at risk on a sporting event or game; by correctly predicting the event’s outcome, those betting funds multiply.

Wagering Deposit Bonuses

Wagering deposit bonuses are extra funds awarded for making deposits. The more you deposit, the higher the bonus potential.

The Betting Juice

The beting juice (also known as “vigorish”) is the price you pay to the bookmaker (BetOnline) to place a wager or bet. That price of the betting juice is usually 10% of the total wager amount, commonly expressed as -110 juice.

For example, to win $100 you must wager or bet $110. The lower the juice, the less you pay for each bet.

Wager Types

Always remember: placing bets is all about strategy. The following wagering options are available:

Straight Bet

Wager on the final score of a single game. Winning wagers are determined by the money line or by the point spread, depending on the league.

Parlay

Wager on 2 or more teams at once. If one team loses, the parlay is a loss.

Teaser

Similar to a Parlay but adjust the point spread in the line to your favour.

If Bets

Wager a fixed amount on one team and only if that team wins the game can you set another fixed amount equal to the first wager on the next team.

Action Reverse

Similar to two or more If bets but apply every possible combination for wagering.

Future/Props

Wager on an event or outcome that will be determined sometime in the future with higher odds as a reward for placing the wager so far in advance.

Sports Offered

After choosing the type of wager you wish to make, you can pick any sport such as the NBA, MLB, NFL, NHL, NCAA, Auto Racing, Soccer, Golf, Boxing and more. You can verify when the lines for these sports will be posted here.

Wagering Lines

After you choose your league/sport you’ll see the scheduled games and wagering lines. You must learn how to read the lines:

Favorite/Underdog

Each spread features either a favorite or an underdog. The favorite is expected to win the bet and is usually represented by negative (-) juice, meaning you have to pay to bet that team. The underdog is less likely to win the bet and is usually represented by a plus (+) sign, meaning you are paid to bet that team.

Point Spread

A point spread is an advantage or head-start granted to a team by subtracting points from the favorite’s score or adding points to the underdog’s score. If you bet the favorite, it must “cover” and win by the allotted point spread to win the wager.

If you choose the underdog, it may lose the competition by the point spread and you can still win the wager. For example, +3 -110 indicates the underdog is being granted three extra points to win at a standard price of $110 to win $100.

Money Line

A money line is used when you simply want to wager on if your team will win or lose. There are two numbers in the money line, each having a different meaning:

Positive Moneylines A positive moneyline indicates the underdog team line. That is a quote saying how much cash will be won if you risk $100.

Negative Moneylines A negative moneyline indicates the favorite team line. That is the amount you need to risk to win $100. Even odds are quoted as $100 or Pick Em (PK).

Total Points

This type of wager is determined by the total number of points scored by both teams in the game. Add the scores of each team and compare the total to the Total Points line and you will know if you have won or lost.

How Much To Wager

Deciding how much you want to wager on a bet is a personal choice that only you can make. You can either assign the amount you want to risk or the amount you want to win.

In placing the amount to risk, you are putting the sum required by the bookmaker in order for the bet to have action. In contrast, putting the amount you want to win will have the system automatically calculate how much cash must be wagered to meet the request.

Once you click to confirm your wager, you’re ready to go.

I changed my mind, can you delete my bet ?

Please be vigilant when placing your wagers, as—much like a land based betting site—all your wagers are final once you place them. For your online wagers, we will take you introducing your password as confirmation for your wagers.
