Pineapple Open Face Chinese Poker
Pineapple Open Face Chinese Poker
Updated over a week ago

We have a new game available for you! Experience the exciting game of Pineapple Open Face Chinese Poker (OFC), a dynamic variant of the classic poker games like Texas Hold’em and Omaha. This new game is embraced by both casual and veteran players and is now live on our Windfalls Tournament section!

How does this game work?

The game is played between 3 players in a Windfalls format with a Jackpot prize pool. The scoring system uses points that have a variable chip value depending on the game’s level. As the table level increases, the points are worth more chips!

It consists on every player making 3 poker hands using 13 cards: a top hand (3 cards); middle hand (5 cards) and bottom hand (5 cards). These hands follow the same hierarchy of standard poker games. The big difference is that each hand has to be a stronger combination than the previous one, from the top to the bottom (Top Hand > Middle Hand > Bottom Hand).

ofc01.png

On this example:

  • Top Hand = High Card (A)

  • Middle Hand = Three of a Kind (5)

  • Bottom Hand = Three of a Kind (10)

Following the hierarchy rule, the Three of a Kind (5) is stronger than the High Card (A) and the Three of a Kind (10) is stronger than the Three of Kind (5).

Top Hand < Middle Hand < Bottom Hand

How do you win in OFC Poker?

Your poker combinations in each hand win you points! The player with more points combined on the three hands wins the round!

How are points earned?

At the end of a game, the points of every hand are summed. Points are awarded based on hand strength in comparison with each players hand.

In case of a draw on any of the hands, none of the players receives points. For example, two (2) players having a flush in the bottom hand).

The players will get 1 point for each hand won and they can get an additional 3 points if they win all three (3) hands.

For a better understanding on how the scoring system works, we’re going to break them down into three (3) types:

Type

Description

Value

Hand Points

The points scored by a hand in comparison with each other player’s hands.

1 point per hand.

Royalties

The additional points a player can earn by building a premium hand.

Depends on the hand combination (see below)

Game points

The extra points the players can earn if they win all three (3) hands or lose if they have a dead hand.

3 points

All of these points will be shown and allotted once the game finishes and they are properly distributed among the players. This is how it will look on your end:

ofc02.png
  1. The hand points will be shown first next to every hand.

  2. The royalties will show next to the hand points. They’re also represented with a yellow box at the top right of the premium hand with the amount of points.

  3. The game points will show next to the player’s name and chips.

Royalties

These are bonus points awarded to the players depending on the strength of the hand, regardless of the winner. These bonuses are not obligatory but they do increase the overall winning amount.

Hands with a combination that earns a royalty are called “premium hands” and, depending on the type of combination, they will have the bonus value attached to them.

The following chart shows the amount of royalties a hand can earn by combination:

Scoring Example

The following is an example of how the points were calculated and earned by the players on the table:

ofc04.png

On this game we have three (3) players: Player 1, Player 2 and Player 3. While Player 1 and Player 2 managed to make a valid combination following the hand hierarchy, Player 3 failed to do so and as a result, he busted or ended up with a dead hand.

As a result, the points will be awarded between Player 1 and Player 2.

Hand Points

First, let’s break the scoring down by hands: Top, middle and bottom.

ofc11.png

Top Hand:

  • Player 2 has a high card with A.

  • Player 1 has a high card with 9.

  • Player 3 is busted.

Player 2’s top hand beats Player 1’s, but Player 1 beats a busted Player 3.

As a result:

  1. Player 1 earns 1pt from Player 3.

  2. Player 2 earns 1pt from both Player 1 and Player 3.

Because Player 1 earns 1pt and loses 1pt there overall balance does not change.

The final settle for the Top Hand is: Player 1 0pts | Player 2 +2pts | Player 3 -2pts

Middle Hand:

  • Player 1 has Three of a Kind (QQQ).

  • Player 2 has a Pair of Eights (88).

  • Player 3 is busted.

Player 2 earns 1pt from Player 3, but Player 1 earns 1pt from each Player 2 and Player 3 by having the strongest combination.

The final settle for the Middle Hand is: Player 1 +2pts | Player 2 0pts | Player 3 -2pts

Bottom Hand:

  • Player 2 has a Queen High Flush (Q).

  • Player 1 has a Nine High Flush (9).

  • Player 3 is busted.

Player 1 earns 1pt from Player 3, but Player 2 earns 1pt from Player 1 and Player 3 by having the strongest combination.

The final settle for the Bottom Hand is: Player 1 0pts | Player 2 +2pts |Player 3 -2pts

Royalties

After the Hand Points are calculated and allotted, let’s check the royalties which will be the 2nd column at the right of the hand points.

ofc05.png

The following royalties are granted due to the premium hands made by the players in the game. Royalties are labeled with a yellow box at the top right of the premium hand.

Middle Hand:

  • Player 1 earns +2pts due to the Three of a Kind of Queens (QQQ).

Bottom Hand:

  • Player 1 earns +4pts by having a Flush with Nine (9).

  • Player 2 earns +4pts by having a Flush with Queen (Q).

ofc06.png

All the royalties have to be paid as per the table. As a result, the points are allotted as follows:

Middle Hand:

  • Player 2 and Player 3 pay 2pts each to Player 1.

Bottom Hand:

  • Player 1 and Player 3 pay 4pts to Player 2.

  • Player 2 and Player 3 pay 4pts to Player 1.

The final settle for the royalties is: Player 1 +4pts | Player 2 +4pts | Player 3 -8pts

Game Points

Depending on the three (3) hands made by the players, the additional game points are awarded.

ofc07.png

On this case, both Player 1 and Player 2 had three (3) winning hands each, while Player 3 had a dead hand (all hands are a loser).

As a result, both Player 1 and Player 2 earned 3 game points each while Player 3 lost 6 game points by losing to both Player 1 and Player 2.

The final settle for game points is: Player 1 / Player 2 +3pts | Player 3 -6pts

The Outcome

After all the points are calculated and allotted, they are totalized as chips and they are either added or deducted from the chip stack of the player, depending on the outcome.

ofc08.png

The outcome calculation is done as follows:

Player 1:

  • Hand Points = +2pts

  • Royalties = +8pts

  • Game Points = +3pts

    Total Chips = +13

Player 2:

  • Hand Points = +4pts

  • Royalties = +4-2 = +2pts

  • Game points = +3pts

    Total Chips = +9

Player 3:

  • Hand points = -6pts

  • Royalties = -10pts

  • Game points = -6pts

    Total Chips = -22

The outcome will be shown under the player’s chip stack below the name.

Be careful of the “Dead Hand”!

If the player fails to either create a valid poker combination on one or more of the hands; or the hierarchy isn’t valid, it will be considered a “dead hand”, resulting in a loss of points across all three hands.

ofc09.png

Welcome to the Realm of Dreams: Fantasyland!

Secure your entry to this realm by making Queens or better on the top hand without having a “Dead Hand”. As the round ends, you will ascend to Fantasyland!

When Fantasyland activates, you will get fourteen (14) cards dealt on the 1st round of the next game. All cards will be shown to you and you will have 1 minute and 30 seconds to place 13 of them in the hands and to discard 1!

ofc10.png

Time to crush your competition! You can continue to be in the realm of Fantasyland only by creating three of a kind on the top hand or four of a kind or better on the bottom hand, with no fouls or a dead hand.
